Did you know that 70% of the New Canaan High School student body participates in Athletics? Did you know that in any given year NCHS has 30 Varsity Teams, 18 JV Teams, and 10 Freshman Teams competing? The numbers are impressive. And the enrichment, the experience, and physical benefits they offer our athletes is immeasurable.
The New Canaan Sports Council is a Sports Booster Club for ALL sports whose mission is to enrich athletics at New Canaan High School. Understanding that the Board of Education has finite resources, the primary effort of the Sports Council is to enhance the coaching resources. Last year the Sports Council funded over 30 coaches (the Board of Ed funded 70). A lower athlete to coach ratio enables higher quality instruction and greater interaction between coaches and athletes which benefits our students and the program. Additionally, the Sports Council supports professional development for all coaches and sponsors activities that celebrate the achievements of our coaches and athletes. The Sports Council plays a key supplementary role which maintains the high standard we set for our school and our community.
A town wide mailing was sent last month asking for your support. Your generosity is key to our fundraising efforts and ultimately achieving our enrichment goals. Your donation appears in our All Sports Program which is published three times a year – once for each sports season. Anyone who missed the mailing last month but would still like to donate should send their tax deductible contribution to New Canaan Sports Council, NCHS, 11 Farm Road. We need your support!
